Can I really sell for just £9.99. What's the catch?
There is absolutely no catch or further obligation whatsoever when you list your property with us. first4sale.com is a community site, we keep our prices down to a bare minimum and all we ask is that you spread the word about us. We do however recommend you choose a For Sale board as most serious buyers drive around the neighbourhood they intend to move to. A board will give you a much greater chance of finding your buyer and completing your sale quickly.

Are there any other or hidden costs?
No!

We clearly display the cost of all optional services. There are no extra charges whatsoever.

Are there any charges once I have sold?
No!

What if I already have an estate agent?
You should tell your estate agent that you also intend to market your property privately through first4sale.com and ensure that the agent does not expect you to pay them commission if you sell yourself.

Can you really offer an alternative to a conventional estate agent?
We believe that the estate agency market has become outdated & complacent, with commission charges completely out of proportion to the service provided. A shake up is well overdue. As house prices have risen, commission fees have risen too, meaning an outlay of thousands of pounds for most vendors.

Both the Consumer Association's Which? and the Office of Fair Trading have produced damning reports into estate agent practices. Both can be found in our Useful Links, under the 'Using an estate agent & estate agent reports' section.

In some areas 90% of buyers now look online first! However, we also recognise the importance of the local market and highly recommend you select one of our "For Sale" boards, which we'll supply, install AND remove for you, wherever you are in the UK.

Choose a 'For Sale' Board and you'll be instantly updated by email, every time we receive an enquiry to the Freephone number on the board. You'll receive an Activity Report which shows the name and contact details of the buyer, the nature of the enquiry and how we dealt with it.

The only thing we ask you to do is conduct your own viewings. This is often the case anyway, even when using a traditional agent. Our view is that as the seller, you know your property best. And for the same reason, most buyers prefer to deal directly with the vendor. You can find great tips on showing your property in our Guides section.

Our aim is not just to offer you an alternative, but a better way.

Doesn't an estate agent vet buyers?
In principle yes, they should. In practice, no they often don't.

Obviously we acknowledge that there are some very good estate agents who provide an excellent service to their satisfied clients. But until ALL agents join a regulatory body, we know that many leave much to be desired.

Our site is designed to give you the opportunity to vet your buyers by ensuring that it is ALWAYS the buyer who gives you their contact details first. This allows you to decide when and to whom you give your details.

Doesn't an estate agent protect my privacy?
They should. And so do we.

Your name, address and contact details are NEVER shown on the site or disclosed to anyone calling our office.

How do I value my property?
You can find great tips on how to value your property in our Guides section, under the 'Sellers' tab.
